SUBCLASSES AND ASSESSMENT LEVELS
SUBCLASSES AND ASSESSMENT LEVELS
The new Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) has replaced the subclasses and assessment levels starting with 1 July 2016. From 1 July 2016, the application process for student visas will be streamlined and simplified. There are no more visa subclasses. There will be only one student visa Subclass 500 and all student will be able to lodge their student visa online.
There are 2 Risk Levels in the student visa programme. They determine the student visa requirements according to the immigration risk posed by applicants from a particular country studying with a particular education provider. Depending on the immigration risk the student falls under, the student visa application will be assessed according to Streamlined requirements or the Regular requirements. The Streamlined application level represents the lowest immigration risk and the Regular application level, the highest. The higher your Level is, the more evidence is required to support your claim for the grant of a student visa.
Courses under 3 months may be taken on a visitor or a tourist visa.
